சூரசம்ஹாரம்

 சூரசம்ஹாரம் 

இன்று சூரசம்ஹாரம். முருகன் சூரபத்மனை அழித்து, திருச்செந்தூரில் குடிகொண்ட நாள். 

அறுபடைவீடுகள் பற்றி முன்னமேயே பதித்திருந்த ஒரு கவிதையின் ஒரு பகுதியை  இந்நாளில் நினைவுக்கு கொண்டுவந்து முருகப்பெருமானை வழிபடுகிறேன்.

SURASAMHAARAM

Today is Sura Samharam- the day when Muruga vanquished Surapadman (Suran ), using the Vel , blessed and given to him by Parvathi. Suran, in a bid to escape,  took the shape of tree which Muruga split into two. Based on a request by the repentant Suran, he converted one half into his Seval(cock) Flag and the other half into a Peacock which he used for ambulating. After killing Surapadman, Lord Muruga took his seat at   Thiruchendur , on the shores of Bay of Bengal.

 பார்வதி    தேவியிடம்    வேல்பெற்று   சூரனை

இருபாதி    யாகப்  பிளந்து -  ஒருபாதியை

கொக்கருகோ *   எனக்கூவி    அறியாமைத் துயில்  கலைக்கும்

குக்குடக்**   கொடியாக   வும்

மற்றுமொரு    பாதியை    திக்கெட்டு    திசையெங்கும்

சுற்றிவரும்    மயிலாக    வும்-    ஏற்றருளி

கடலாடும்    கரையோரச்    செந்தூரில்   குடிகொண்டாய்  

சுடலாடி***   பெற்றமக  னே !

          

                    *  கொக்கருகோ =கொக்கு+அறு + கோ

                                                      ="கொக்கு வடிவில் வந்த அரக்கனைக்

                                                        கொன்றவனே"

                     ** குக்குடம் = சேவல்  *** சுடலாடி -- மயானத்தில் ஆடுபவன்
