பிரதோஷப் பாடல்
பிரம்ம தேவனின் புதல்வர்களும், முனிவர்களுமான சனகன், சனாதனன் , சநந்தனன், சனத்குமாரர் என்ற நால்வரும் , பல நூல்கள் கற்றபின்னும் , பெருந்த்தவங்கள் புரிந்த பின்னும் உண்மையை உணரமுடியாத நிலையில், ஆலமரத்தடியில் மோனத்திருக்கோலத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தியைப் பணிந்து வேண்டினர். வாய்மொழிகளுக்கு ஏதும் வேலையில்லாமலே , அவர்களது ஞானக் கண்ணைத் திறந்தான் சிவபெருமான்.

மோனக் கோலத்தில் ஆலின் அடியமர்ந்து
ஞான ஒளிதந்த நாயக னைப்பணிவாம்
Sanakan, Sanandanan, sanaadanan and sanathkumaaran were four sons of Brahma. These sages, even after involved studies were unable to realise the Supreme Truth. They came to Lord Shiva, who was seated under the Banyan Tree in the Yoga pose and prayed and medidated before him. Even without uttering a single word, the Lord brought true realaisation to those sages, showing that the Ultimate Truth can not be explained in words but has to be experienced.
